2011 has been a really busy year at HMG and we have installed new machinery (a Sub-Mill) to enable increased production of UNIT tinters during 2012.
We had a Christmas meal in the canteen just before close and all staff were thanked for their efforts during the year.
Let’s hope 2012 is a stonker.

Geez, I feel like scrooge this year. Not because I’m a tight git but because the thought of Christmas and all the hoo-hah is getting me down. Bah. Humbug.
People are spending ages (well at our house it’s ages), setting up decorations, Christmas Tree(s) and lights only to have to take them down again in a few weeks.
Then there is spending shed loads of money (that people can’t really afford to spend) on mostly unwanted rubbish and crap food that’s making us all fat.
And what’s that fat old geezer dressed in red and getting kids to sit on his knee all about?

Had my eyes tested a couple of weeks ago and really do need reading glasses. I was told my eyesight was good enough for DVLA regulations but could be better so I opted for a pair of distance glasses too but they don’t really seem to make much difference after about five metres. The reading glasses are superb and I can see very fine print again…
fed up at the moment because everything seems to be going wrong…Looking forward to Christmas though.
I have just started to digitise the diary I kept from 1987 when Peter Davys and I were working together on projects at HMG.

I had a small eye operation to remove a cyst thing that has plagued me since the end of June.
It was performed at the Croft Shifa Health Centre in Rochdale and I didn’t feel a thing, so, thanks to the Doctor and Sister who looked after me there.

Christine and I celebrated our Pearl Anniversary on Sunday 28th August, by having lunch with a few relatives at the Castleton Hotel.
We initially thought it was just Joan and Bob with Paul and Chris being there with us but Joan had secretly invited Derek and Elizabeth and Robert and Eileen (Christine’s Uncle’s and Aunts), so we were really surprised.
To top the day off, we managed to see the second half of the United game where they thrashed Arsenal 8-2.

There was a family get together at the Thornley/Lloyd residence in Chorley on 31st July 2011.
It was a barbecue event and the weather held out for us.
Craig Mycock and his wife Katrina were over from South Africa so the barbecue was a family get-together.
Head chef for the event was Garry Lloyd and he did a good job in feeding us all.
Thanks to Robert, Eileen, Michael and Jane for letting us invade their home and ‘Happy Birthday to Craig (Aug 3rd) and Katrina (Aug 8th).

We’re off to a barbecue at the end of July where we will meet Craig Mycock who is a cousin of Joan (Baxter nee Lloyd).
I’m sure we will come away with some additions to the family tree when we meet up with Craig.
There haven’t been many additions to the family tree for some time now because we have reached brick walls with our research.

At the Doc’s again this week and I thought this would be the end of it and he would ask to see me in a few months time but he is sending me for another raft of tests and is now giving me Prochlorperazine Maleate for the dizzy spells that have not gone away. It’s been eleven weeks now and it’s quite debilitating.
I’m really fed up with it and it is sapping morale. I manage to have a few good days and then wham! The room spins and the nauseous feeling is overwhelming. My arms are bruised because I constantly bump into door frames and walls.
